Amazon presentó a Scout, un pequeño robot autónomo para realizar entregas; desarrollado por su laboratorio de investigación.
Las primeras pruebas comenzaron desde hoy mismo en el condado de Snohomish, Washington, muy cerca de las oficinas centrales de la compañía al norte de Seattle.
Son pocos los detalles que han revelado, de momento se sabe que su propuesta es totalmente eléctrica gracias a su batería integrada.
Por el vídeo se puede asumir que estará destinado a llevar paquetes de tamaño menor. Como podrás apreciar, su diseño se asemeja a una nevera portátil.
Es importante mencionar que, en un inicio, el robot siempre irá acompañado por un empleado de Amazon.
Scout circulará por la acera a una velocidad muy baja para evitar accidentes. Su sistema autónomo le permite “moverse de forma segura y eficiente alrededor de mascotas, peatones y cualquier otra cosa en su camino”, señala la empresa.

En este momento son seis los robots que ya están operando, todos disponibles de lunes a viernes en horario diurno.
Para que los clientes puedan conocer a Scout será necesario ser suscriptor de Prime y solicitar el envío más rápido —mismo día del pedido—.
Sin embargo, lo anterior no asegura que el robot realice la entrega.
